10 Years and Counting

Have you heard? The Professional Enhancement Program (PEP) at Pine Grove Behavioral Health recently celebrated a significant milestone: 10 years of providing quality comprehensive evaluations and treatment for professionals. PEP’s 10th year anniversary was celebrated with a luncheon where Pine Grove’s staff reflected on the program’s achievements over the years and looked towards the future.

In honor of PEP’s accomplishments, here are some interesting facts about the program:

PEP is a unique 6 week intensive outpatient program. This program is unique because it is specifically designed to help professionals address interpersonal difficulties and vocational issues. Participants learn to manage stress in day-to-day living, develop coping methods and the ability to accept help, understand and begin to resolve the issues that led to treatment, learn to balance home, family and professional life, and increase professional performance.

The mission at PEP is to provide innovative, collaborative and personalized cost- effective care.  PEP has assessed and treated more than 1,500 professionals of which, 70% are healthcare professionals from 48 states, 4 Canadian provences, and 2 foreign countries.

The PEP Program is a Values© based program. It incorporates five values developed by Dr. Glenn Seigel and Mary Pittman, RN. These values are:

  • Open, Honest, and Direct Communication
  • Responsibility for Choices
  • Respect for Self and Others
  • Accountability to Oneself and the Willingness to Hold Others Accountable
  • Inclusion of all Members

The PEP program has provided over 70 professional papers, posters, and workshop presentations at regional, national, and international conferences.

The PEP program pioneered the assessment and treatment of professionals with ‘Disruptive’ behavior which includes validating a monitoring instrument (DBI) and co-authored a book (in press) Taming Disruptive Behavior.  The PEP program has helped countless individuals and will continue to do so for many more years to come. What do you think sets the PEP program apart from other programs?
