Issac L. Boose, M.Ed, LPC-S, LMFT, ICAADC

Issac L. Boose is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. He presently works as the director of Pine Grove Next Step and has been a part of the Next Step team since December 2004. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland European Division and a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Mississippi. He is an active member of the Mississippi Association of Addiction Professional. His experience in the counseling profession includes working with school-aged children as a school based counselor, counseling senior citizens in a hospital setting, community mental health counseling and residential alcohol and drug counseling. While working within these settings he has provided couples, family, group and individual therapy.


Diane Walker, MD

Dr. Walker has been with Pine Grove since 1991 and serves as the medical director for psychiatric services at Forrest General Hospital. She is a 1986 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in 1991. Dr. Walker is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry, a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as the American Psychiatric Association. She is also certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine.


Vanessa Cox, MSW, LCSW, CSAT

Vanessa Cox is a Licensed Certified Social Worker and Supervisor, and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. She received her Bachelor of Social Work and her Master of Social Work Degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is currently working on her EMDR certification. She is the Clinical Director of Pine Grove Next Step and has been a part of the Pine Grove team since October 2005. She worked as a Clinical Therapist at Next Step until 2008 and as Clinical Director of Pine Grove Women Center before returning to Next Step in 2014. Before joining the Pine Grove team, Vanessa worked in the fields of addiction and mental health as House Manager, Counselor Associate, Counselor, and Clinical Director from 1990 to 2005. During that time she provided therapy for individuals, groups, including dual diagnosis and aftercare, families, and facilitated intensive workshops.


Caroline Barnes, LPC, NCC, CSAT

Caroline received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social and Rehabilitative Services from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from William Carey University. She holds a license to practice counseling in the State of Mississippi (LPC) and is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Caroline obtained her Certification in Sexual Addictions (CSAT) through the International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals under the instruction and guidance of Dr. Patrick Carnes and had extensive supervision with Deborah Schiller LPC, CSAT-S, CMAT, NCC, Director of Pine Grove's Gratitude Program. Caroline's skilled therapeutic approach is maximized by her passion for helping men who seek freedom from the disease of chemical dependency.


Susan Davidson, MS, LMFT

Susan Davidson earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she majored in Psychology and graduated with the Highest Honors. She also earned her Master's degree from Southern Miss in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is trained in Cognitive Therapy, and is currently training for a certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, known as EMDR, which is a recognized form of trauma treatment.


LD Magee

Lejejuande “LD” Magee is a Counselor at Pine Grove Next Step. She is a Licensed Social Worker and she received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from University of Southern Mississippi. LD joined the Pine Grove team in 2002 and has worked with different populations while in the Pine Grove system to broaden her scope of practice. While at Pine Grove, LD has worked at Pine Grove’s Child and Adolescent Day Treatment Program and Women's Center before coming to Next Step. She provides therapy for individuals, families, groups, and provides aftercare planning support for Next Step patients.


Stephen Alfonso MT-BC

Stephen Alfonso MT-BC, is a board certified Music Therapist. Alfonso earned his degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and he has worked with clients who have experienced sexual trauma, sexual compulsivity, eating disorders, and other addictions since 1995. Alfonso is experienced with using non-verbal, expressive modalities. He has conducted psychodrama groups with sexual trauma clients, those with sexual compulsion, and clients with eating disorders since 1997. During the last five years, Alfonso has also worked with male eating disorder clients. Alfonso is classically trained in voice and he is a professional drummer and band leader with a popular band in the New Orleans area. He has also presented several lectures on the use of Expressive Therapy with survivors of trauma, eating disorders and sexual compulsion. Additionally, Alfonso uses his musical talents during drumming workshops to promote community and healing.


Mimi Leeds, MS, ADTR

Mimi Leeds holds a Bachelor of Arts in both psychology and dance from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master's Degree from Hunter College. Currently, living in Houston, Texas, she works as a certified Life and Wellness coach in private practice. She also has an established Skype therapy practice focusing on addiction, trauma resolution, lifestyle coaching and as a facilitator of her individualized healthy weight, and balanced life program. Her past experience includes working as a department head and therapist for River Oaks Psychiatric hospital in New Orleans for seventeen years. She has also been a group leader for onsite workshops in Nashville TN, and as a group therapist for Arizona Family Therapy Intensives. She has been a national speaker and created workshops focusing on the use of creative arts therapy in the treatment for adult survivors of trauma as well as self-care, compassion and nurturance as a means to healing and growth.


Roland Johnson

Roland Johnson has worked for Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services since 1993. He currently serves as the Outreach Coordinator for Pine Grove’s REACH Program, which stands for Realistic Experiences and Challenging Horizons. REACH is an experiential therapy ropes course for Pine Grove’s residential patients. Each participant accomplishes key goals by pushing themselves past their personal comfort levels. This experience enhances the patients’ self confidence, communication skills, and self esteem while increasing their teamwork and trust building skills. After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Coaching and Sports Administration, Johnson completed his certification as a ropes course facilitator and trainer. In 2012, Johnson received the "We C.A.R.E. Award" presented by Forrest General Hospital. This award recognizes staff members who make a positive impact on the patient’s experience.


David Sellers, M.Div.

David Sellers served as associate pastor at Parkway Heights from 2005 to 2011. He is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, a member of the Order of St. Luke and part of SDI (Spiritual Directors International). He has over 20 years of experience in ministry as a youth director, retreat leader, hospital chaplain and church pastor. He received his M.Div. from Emory University with emphasis in Spiritual Formation. David facilitates group and one-on-one spiritual direction across all programs at Pine Grove.

Psychology Internship Program

Pine Grove has an excellent internship program that offers a wide range of training activities in our three rotations. We are able to offer interns opportunities for training in residential and outpatient settings working with adults, adolescents, and children. We are APA accredited as a single entity pre-doctoral psychology internship program under the name of Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services, Doctoral Internship in Professional Psychology (PG-DIPP).
